Pest control operators and fumigators on our network work in all nine provinces, from the flats and townhouses of Johannesburg and Pretoria to Durban's humid suburbs and harbour, Cape Town and the Winelands, the motor and port towns around Gqeberha, Free State grain towns, Lowveld lodges and farms, and the mining towns of the North West and Northern Cape. Choose your province or town to read about local pests and request quotes.
Gauteng
Gauteng is the busiest market for pest control in the country, with dense suburbs, flats, townships, offices and industrial parks. Summer rains on the Highveld bring flying ants, harvester termites and flies, while cockroaches and rodents are a year-round problem in blocks of flats, restaurants and food factories. Landlords, letting agents and body corporates in Johannesburg and Pretoria book regular treatments, and food manufacturers in Isando, Wadeville and Midrand need documented programmes for audits. Cold winter nights push rats and mice indoors. Bed bugs turn up in guesthouses, student housing and shared rooms. Most pest controllers work across the metro areas and travel between them daily.

Mpumalanga
Mpumalanga mixes a warm, frost-light Lowveld with a cooler Highveld, so the pests differ across the province. Around Mbombela, White River and Hazyview, heat and humidity favour termites, mosquitoes, cockroaches and snakes, and guesthouses and lodges often need bed bug and cockroach treatment. Citrus, subtropical fruit and vegetable farms and packhouses face rodents and stored product pests, while maize farms on the Highveld need silo and grain store treatment. Mining and power towns such as eMalahleni, Secunda and Middelburg have hostels, canteens and workshops with rodent and cockroach problems. Peaks follow the rainy season from October to March, and in malaria areas mosquito advice should come from a qualified person.
North West
North West is a province of farmland, mining towns and the growing suburbs of Rustenburg, Mahikeng, Klerksdorp and Potchefstroom. Hot summers with afternoon thunderstorms favour termites, flying ants, flies and scorpions, and dry winters push rodents into houses and sheds. Maize, sunflower and cattle farms need grain store, silo and feed shed treatment, and poultry houses need fly and rodent control. Around the platinum and gold mines, hostels, canteens, guesthouses and workshops need regular cockroach and rodent programmes. Landlords and student housing in Potchefstroom book treatments before and after term. Pest controllers often travel long distances between towns, so book early for remote sites.
Limpopo
Limpopo is hot for much of the year, which suits termites, mosquitoes, cockroaches, ants and snakes. Polokwane, Tzaneen, Mokopane and Musina have houses, flats, student housing and fast-growing commercial areas, while game lodges and guesthouses around the Waterberg and Kruger gateways need discreet treatment for bed bugs, cockroaches and flies. Farms grow citrus, mangoes, tomatoes and maize, so packhouses, cold stores and grain stores need rodent and stored product pest control. Mines in the Bushveld and Mopani areas run hostels and canteens that need regular programmes. In malaria areas, ask a qualified person about mosquito control, and expect pests to peak after the summer rains.
Northern Cape
The Northern Cape is the driest and most spread-out province, with long distances between Kimberley, Upington, Kuruman, Springbok and De Aar. Heat and dry conditions mean rodents, scorpions, snakes, ants and cockroaches are the usual callouts, with termites in older timber roofs and fly problems around irrigated farms. Upington and the Orange River valley grow grapes, dates and vegetables, so packhouses, dry stores and export sheds need pest control and sometimes fumigation. Mines, solar plants and guesthouses on the tourist routes also book treatments. Many jobs mean a long drive, so pest controllers often group visits by town, and it pays to book early and ask about travel costs.
Free State
The Free State is grain country, with maize, wheat, sunflower and livestock farms around Bloemfontein, Bethlehem, Welkom, Kroonstad and Sasolburg. Silos, grain stores, feed mills and farm sheds attract rodents, weevils and moths, so grain store fumigation and rodent control are common requests. Summer storms bring termites, flying ants and flies, and cold dry winters push rats and mice into houses and flats. Bloemfontein has student housing, offices and hospitals, and Sasolburg and Welkom have industrial plants and mine hostels with regular programmes. Guesthouses along the N1 route book bed bug and cockroach treatment. Distances are long, so ask early and plan treatments before harvest.
KwaZulu-Natal
KwaZulu-Natal has a warm, humid subtropical coast, and that heat suits German and American cockroaches, termites, mosquitoes, ants and bed bugs. Durban, Umhlanga, Ballito and the South Coast have apartments, holiday rentals, guesthouses, restaurants and hotels that need regular treatment, especially in the summer season. The port of Durban and Richards Bay handle many export containers, so container fumigation is part of the local trade. Inland, Pietermaritzburg and the Midlands have older timber homes, farms and food processors, and sugar cane and timber areas have rodent problems. Peaks run from October to March, and mosquito advice in malaria areas should come from a qualified person.
Eastern Cape
The Eastern Cape runs from the temperate coast around Gqeberha and East London to the dry Karoo and the green Wild Coast. Coastal humidity favours cockroaches, ants, termites and bed bugs in homes, flats, guesthouses and holiday rentals, while the Karoo brings rodents, snakes and scorpions. The ports of Gqeberha, Ngqura (Coega) and East London handle vehicles, citrus and other exports, so container fumigation and warehouse treatment are common. Makhanda and Gqeberha have student housing, and Gqeberha and East London have food factories and motor plants that need regular programmes. Citrus farms in the Sundays River valley and livestock farms inland book rodent and fly control. Peaks follow the warmer months.
Western Cape
The Western Cape has a Mediterranean climate, with dry summers and wet winters. Argentine ants are a common nuisance in homes and gardens, rodents move indoors when it is cold and wet, and wood borer affects older homes in the Cape Peninsula and the Winelands. Cape Town, Stellenbosch, Paarl and George have flats, student housing, guesthouses, restaurants and holiday rentals that need regular treatment, with bed bugs a concern for tourist accommodation. Fruit, wine and fish exports leave through Cape Town and Saldanha, so container fumigation and warehouse treatment are common. Farms in the Boland and Swartland need packhouse and grain store control. Peak demand follows the first winter rains and the summer holidays.
